Chakra Meditation Cards

Well, these Chakra Meditation Cards are certainly NeatNCreative!

They have been designed by Sindy of WisdomTrees.com and there are 7 in the set, one for each of the Chakras. Each card provides a simple 15 minute meditation specific for that particular Chakra, and can help bring balance and harmony.

Sindy developed these cards for herself when she was going through a tough time in her life, and she used them successfully. Now she is making them available to help others  (see the following link) who appreciate the role of Chakras in their lives.

You’ll find a Set of 7 Beautiful Meditation Cards in a Unique Envelope at:

The cards are unique, have a specially designed protective envelope too which makes them perfect to give as a gift – something others are very unlikely to have!

In the video, Sindy explains how she came to design the Chakra Meditation Cards, and how they helped her to bring balance into her life.

Neat Creative Ideas for Desk Tops

Need to trim stuff on your desktop
Need to trim stuff on your desktop

It’s getting to be that time of year when thoughts turn to school and what that means. For many that means heading to college or university for the first time, and for those lucky enough, perhaps, life in a dorm room, meaning gadgets and ideas for a dorm room become so important. Even if you have your own place, the chances are that it won’t be as spacious as you are used to, so you need to have some ideas as to how you can make the most of your space.

But desk space is at a premium whether you are in a dorm room, or an office, and organization of your space is important, so that you can concentrate on more important matters than where your paper clips went.

From desk accessories to coffee makers, to Smartbulbs and Smartpens, to workout equipment and speakers, and headphones, there are no end of gadgets calling out to you – the problem is of course affording them on a budget.

Take a look below to get some ideas. I like the fish tank one, as I like to have plants around me, and a pet is a bonus, especially one that doesn’t require much maintenance!

Grovemade Desk Collection

… contains hand-crafted wooden pieces (pick between maple and walnut) that give all of your devices a home. The complete collection includes a laptop stand ($119), a monitor stand ($119), a pen holder ($39), an iPhone dock ($99), a keyboard tray ($99), a plant holder ($29-$39), a mousepad with a built-in stylus holder ($79), a wrist pad ($49), a trackpad tray ($59), and a desk lamp ($99). …

Water Garden Aquafarm fish tank

… that’s actually its own little self-contained ecosystem. The fish’s water gives nutrients to a plant bed that sits on top of the tank, and in turn, the plants keep the fish’s water clean. That way, you can keep an easy-to-manage pet and grow some simple flowers to freshen your dorm room up a little bit. All you have to do is feed your fish pal once a day.

Not everything in your dorm has to be functional—a few decorative items can liven things up and make your space feel more homey…

Can Gadgets Lead to Unhappiness?

There are many who are concerned now that with so many different gadgets around, our attention span is suffering – what you are going already? Apparently we humans can only stay focused for 8 seconds now, although in 2000 it was possible for 12 seconds, before we become distracted by text messages, facebook, the news, and even once in a while even a phone call.

always doing something...
always doing something…

A study lead by De Montfort University has gone even further, directly linking the number of times a person uses the internet or gadgets with the likelihood of experiencing a range of “cognitive failures”, or mental blunders.
The study shows that the most digitally active people are more distracted because of their excessive online activity. The researcher, Dr Lee Hadlington, suspects a vicious circle: that individuals become even more distractible because they become overly reliant on their mobile devices

I think there is a lot of validity in this. Just look around, people are always checking this or that on various devices, walking and texting (where at one time it was actually walking and talking on a phone!). We are using the latest technology and gadgets constantly and so easily get distracted from the project on hand to check out the social media sites, or the latest news.

However, it is also said that keeping our brains active encourages our creativity, but according to Josh Davis, director of research at the NeuroLeadership Institute in New York, there is a mistake that many of us, if not all of us are making

when we take a break from ‘work information’ we replace it with an endless stream of information from social media or the news or whatever else. Digital breaks don’t have an end point – you can spend hours flitting around and then you feel overloaded.

And the type of information you are consuming can have a big impact on your frame of mind too. But Davis does have a solution.

Davis recommends to take a non-digital breaks during the day, when you are walking or sitting in a coffee.

Creativity That Will Change Your Life

nice and compact for breakfast cooking

Some people are just so creative – you look at their ideas, and think “Why didn’t I think of that?”

The video below shows 10 such ideas from a magnetic light switch cover, to a condiment gun, or a flying alarm clock. Even a kitchen safe, to help you control your eating habits, or whatever, the safe only opens at certain times!

I rather like the compartment frying pan though although the 3 in 1 breakfast maker has a lot of appeal as it is just so compact. But if you are looking for exercise, the ping pong door might appeal to you!
